The Ureka Forum consortium partners together with newly converted E-commerce entrepreneurs at the second leg of the Ureka Forum held last February at the Iloilo Convention Center.
ILOILO CITY—Around 600 participants from small and medium enterprises (SMEs) of Western Visayas have gathered in Iloilo City for the country’s biggest mass conversion program to e-commerce.
With the goal of advancing SMEs in the country, UnionBank together with AMTI, and its fellow consortium partners(Air21, PLDT Smart SME Nation, Shopinas, Dragonpay, Panahon TV, GeiserMaclang), have enjoined entrepreneurs once again for the second leg of the Ureka Forum, held last Saturday (February 20) at the Iloilo Convention Center.
AMTI once again, came in as the official technological partner and provided laptops for the e-commerce circuit area, where programmers and entrepreneurs collaborated to develop their e-commerce website for their respective businesses. In addition to that, AMTI, along with its partner, Dell, featured ICT hardware and technology solutions such as Dell’s PowerEdge VRTX Server, Dell Workstation, and Dell Desktop Optiplex models for small to medium businesses.
The Ureka Forum also became a venue for learning as local entrepreneurs with various business, e-commerce, and technology experts in their respective fields shared their learnings and experiences on e-commerce and how it is giving entrepreneurs a major competitive advantage.
Our very own AMTI Senior Vice President and General Manager for ICT solutions, Mr. Bong Paloma, was one of the experts who gave a talk on how Filipinos can fully maximize technology to grow their businesses.“Realize that by using your own gadget, you can start and open your own business. Think about a particular service or product that you can offer or build using locally sourced talent and materials and use your innate Filipino Ingenuity to reach out to the world and start telling your story,” said Paloma.
He also added that the Internet is now our global stage and it is within reach.“Let us put into good use our God-given talents and utilize our natural resources to create wealth in order to make every SME Entrepreneur an agent of sustainable economic development.” Said Paloma.
Based on the latest data from the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Summit last year, SMEs continue to drive major boosts in economic growth with the help of technology. The Ureka Forum opened an avenue for Visayas-based SMEs by enjoining them to improve their businesses through e-commerce and their capability to take their businesses across borders.
